EVP Procurement and Price Risk Management                                                  

Joined CTI Foods in 2012 when they acquired King of Prussia facility from AFA Foods. Corporate-wide responsibility for all imported beef purchases and market analysis. Also, assisted sales, contract pricing and food safety teams. Additional site specific responsibilities for all fresh meat procurement, production planning, raw material and finished goods inventories.

American Foodservice Corporation/AFA Foods Inc, King of Prussia, PA          1999-2012

EVP Procurement and Price Risk Management

Directed all raw material procurement for a $1.1 billion company with 6 facilities nationwide. Joined AFS which became AFA Foods created in 2008 with private equity transaction encompassing American Foodservice, Fairbanks Farms and American Fresh Foods. United Food Group added in 2010.

Corporate-wide accountability for all raw material purchases including all fixed price decisions on purchases as well as overseeing inventory and production planning.  Coordinated margin management as leader of pricing team on all sales.  Key part of sales effort having direct and primary relationships with many of the customers, including Burger King, Denny’s, Jack-In-The-Box, Checkers, Taco Bueno, Sonic and Uno.

  • Built a procurement group/raw material management team for a company that previously had no employees dedicated to this function.
  • Employed cross hedging strategies to reduce market risk.
  • Directed production planning, scheduling and inventories of both finished goods and raw materials.
  • Worked in conjunction with food safety team to maintain the reputation as a leader in food safety in the ground beef business.

Trading and Business Manager, Meat and Livestock Division

Trading Manager for global meat and livestock operations of one of the three largest commodity trading companies in the world. Responsibilities included:

  • Final decision making on market position imported beef in excess of $50,000,000.
  • Managed satellite offices in Miami, Melbourne, Buenos Aries and Tokyo.
  • Managed office of 25 including sales, research, accounting and logistical support for importation.
  • Grew the imported beef division into the largest importer of beef in the USA.

Recognized Industry Leader                                                                               

  • Board Member Meat Importers Council of America (MICA), 2012-2020.
  • Chaired both Specification Committee and Arbitration Committee for MICA.
  • One of a handful of industry leaders chosen separately by both the Australian and New Zealand governments to help overhaul their food safety programs for the USA market.
